There have been many discussions on the destruction of the Native American communities when the white settlers from the west first reached the Shores of North America.
The huge number of death of Native American as a result of smallpox and the flew keep on entering public discussion time after time. A relatively intelligent coverage of the issue as it appears in the minds of current readers can be found here and it presents all kind of opinions on the matter with an attempt to see things as they were.
I suppose that if the strike of smallpox and the flew was less intense maybe the historical process would have been different, still it is not really possible to speculate if even with a large and strong Native American communities the white people would have conquered North America the way they did. Possibly yes.
We have no direct knowledge regarding anything but the fact that things happened that way.The debate whether the Native American were exposed to smallpox on purpose with the blanket that they were given or everything was caused by the different biologies of the races would probably remain unsolved.
